Mount Redoubt

Mount Redoubt currently rises in excess of 10,000 feet, or more than 3,000 meters in the Alutian Range in Alaska. It is a stratovolcano, meaning, in part, that it is composed of different layers of composite matter created from differing eruptions. The last year that Mount Redoubt received a new eruptive layer was in 2009. Here it is observed from a position that includes a small colony of puffins, including one that has just become airborne.
