A bright comet some 160 million miles from earth was recorded in the early hours of the morning in the summer of 2020 above the southern ridge of the Colorado Plateau. It was dubbed Neowise after the name of the satellite in use for its discovery, but was known as the "Great Comet of 2020" due to the comparative rarity of its observable features from the Northern Hemisphere of Earth. "It was an exhilarating experience for our team as we contemplated the merely 5 kilometers in diameter ball of ice, rock and dust particles being brightly visible from a distance some 650 times further than our moon is from terra firma on planet Earth. The matter-mass and tail were reflecting the magic of light from that relatively small object from that relatively great distance with such clarity that it entirely eclipsed even the engrossing gift of presence."
